On September 5 , the BBA Program sponsored training program for instructors to learn about new opportunities and teaching technology for Google Classroom.  This is the system for two way communication between instructor and student.  It can be used for distributing and collecting classroom materials and assignments.

The training took place at the Faculty Computer Lab where all participants had the opportunity to create their own Google Drive Class Folder.  Working in pairs all instructors were then able to experience the roles of both the teacher and the student.
Google Classroom provides users with productivity enhancing applications including Gmail, Docs, and Drive.

It was a great opportunity for us to be able to attend a very interesting and special presentation on 13 July 2015 in the BBA International Program Office given by Ms. Jillaine Farrar, Lucerne University of Applied Science and Arts Exchange Program Coordinator. The presentation about Lucerne University was both informative and interesting. Ms. Jillaine did an excellent job in explaining about the university’s bachelor program, buddy system, foreign language courses, and etc. Before the presentation, we have no idea that the Lucerne University’s environment and atmosphere is very heart-warming, and that the culture between Swiss and Thailand are so different. This cultural information was very interesting yet helpful for us to easily adapt to Swiss culture. Furthermore, we also felt that Lucerne University is ready to warmly welcome us. The courses offered during the BBA exchange program are absolutely appealing to me since it is possible to take every courses they have and transfer the credits back to BBA Chula. Overall, I believe that this presentation was very beneficial and useful for all students.

It was a great pleasure to have Dawn J. Moyer, a Academic Advisor, from Oregon State University give us considerable amount of information on August 14, 2015. Overall, the presentation about Oregon State University not only revealed the life on campus, but outside of the campus as well. The speaker prepared a concise speech, which would assist us in the near future when we decide our roads to exchange program.  Apparently, there is no word needed to describe Oregon State University academically since it is ranked as one of the top universities in the United States. There are many factors to take into consideration when choosing a university which one will be studying at for a semester. Personally, I feel that location is the most important factor despite education. Oregon State University is located in Corvallis, one of the safest cities, which is situated in the north of California and south of Washington; Oregon also has access to the Pacific Coast. From the speech, exchange students love to go to the beach or drive either north or south to Seattle or California during their weekends. Additionally, best utilities are to be expected. For instance, there are free buses around the places and you are allowed to take your bike on to the bus in case it is raining. A few words from someone who had participated, the presentation was very helpful as it guided us to take a deeper look at one of the best universities in the States.

“At the end of the day, we do not sell to everyone and we cannot become everything.” This is one of the many golden insights that Khun Subha-Orn Rathanamongkolmas had shared with Thai and International students in Ajarn Yayus Mak’s International Marketing class on Wednesday, September 16th, 2015.

The STP model, comprising of Segmentation, Targeting, and Positioning, is a framework commonly used in the marketing domain to identify the various types of consumers in the market and how to differentiate a product from the competition. In International Marketing 2015, students were taught to further deepen their understanding of the STP concept and practice their ability to use it as a global marketing tool.

In this class, Ajarn Yayus invited Khun Subha-Orn, Managing Director of Walt Disney Thailand to show students how the entertainment industry implements and uses the STP framework. Through dynamic dialogue and exchange of ideas/experiences, we learned about how crucial the framework is in an actual working environment for a global marketer.

K. Subha-Orn guided the class using Disney’s recent movies such as Frozen, Cinderella, Inside Out, Tomorrowland, and also the Marvel Superheroes movies as case-studies, sparking interactive discussions and resulting in impactful takeaways from the class. Students learned about the importance of positioning a brand correctly and how it could extend profitability towards other brands and line of businesses in the company.

Both Ajarn Yayus and Khun Subha-Orn also shared their personal experience in their journey and career paths. “Search for your professional hobby” became the key takeaway when one of the students asked for personal career advice.

Currently the Managing Director of Walt Disney Thailand, Khun Subha-Orn is a seasoned marketer with 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Ajarn Yayus Mak currently teaches and guides international students in her International Marketing class for the BBA International Program, Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University. In her class, Ajarn Yayus passes on practical insights, tools, and concepts on various topics that are must-have skills in the current business world.

Quotes from Students:
“Khun Subha-Orn’s insightful and dynamic presentation had amazed and inspired us. I especially liked the way she illustrated how each of the marketing strategies we learned in class was perfectly applicable in real Disney's products. Khun Subha-Orn really did make the Disney's magic come to life here in our class!”
- Patsachon Kriengwatana, International Program, Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy

“It is a very fun and informative class, showing how Disney’s marketing method works, something that I have never known before and is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. Finally, I would like to thank Ajarn Yayus Mak for allowing me to sit in her class.”
