Exchange Program


 

Students studying in universities around the world (No Students Exchange Agreement or cannot join the exchange program for some reason) who would like to spend one or more semesters at Chula can apply to the Study Abroad Program. As per our Study Abroad Program regulations, you are required to pay tuition fees to Chulalongkorn University during the period of study. Please consult your home university for approval.

Eligibility:

To be considered for admission, it is a must that you meet the following requirements. Please  scan the documents for consideration in advance.

  1. Be an undergraduate student with a grade point average (GPAX) of no less than 2.75 (in the 4-point scale US system) or equivalent.
  2. For non-native English speakers or English is not a medium of instruction, one of the following English Proficiency Tests is required:
    • TOEFL score of no less than 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based)
    • IELTS score of no less than 6.5
    • Proof of the English Language Proficiency.
  3. University ranking is in the top 100 of the country for American university and top 10 for other universities.
  4. University or business school has been accredited by AACSB or EFMD.
  5. Information of your school accreditation or ranking in the nation or in the world (QS, Time Higher Education (THE), Financial Times (FT) or US News or anything.

Conditions:

  1. The period of study at Chula of no longer than one academic year.
  2. Enrollment for no less than 9 credits in a semester (Fall Semester and Spring Semester), and no less than 3 credits in Summer Semester.
  3. Non-degree awarded (a transcript is available).
  4. Payment of tuition fees in accordance with Chulalongkorn's rules and regulations.

After your documents have been proved and you are qualified, we will send an application link to you by email by the end of March (Fall), August (Spring) and January (Summer).

  Application Process:

You are required to complete an online application and upload all required documents by the deadlines.
  April 1 - 30 for Fall, September 1 - 30 for Spring and February 1-25 for Summer.
1.  Polite Color photo  (A photo must be clear, straight face, not showing teeth, white shirt (not T-shirt) and plain background).
2.  ID page of the student’s passport.
3.  Recent academic transcript (with English translation if applicable) You should have grade point average of at least 2.75 in the  4 - point scale US system or equivalent.
4.  Proof of the English language proficiency (required only a non-English native speaker or English is not a medium of instruction): TOEFL 79ibt, IELTS 6.5 or  any proof from your institution.
5.  Letter from home school certifying that you have been approved to join a semester with the BBA Program - Chulalongkorn Business School. 
6.  Appropriate insurance coverage while living in Thailand. (Health & Accident)

  ​​Admission will be processed a letter of acceptance for visa application will be sent out to you electronically rather than in hard copy.

  Tentative Course List and Course Syllabus

      Please note that this is a tentative course list and the links for course syllabus in the previous semesters are included. You can just refer to this information for an idea and study plan or when you complete the BBA online application.  It is also important that you contact your school in advance for course approval. However, the most updated course list and timetable for the semester that you are going to join will be different from the tentative course list, and it is expected to be available around 1 month prior to the start of the semester. So, you are strongly suggested to have contingency to adjust your plan.

Apart from exchange program, students who would like to spend one or more semesters abroad with exchange or non-exchange partners can also apply to Study Abroad or Free Mover Program.
 
As per our Study Abroad Program regulations, you are required to pay tuition fees to both Chulalongkorn University and overseas university if you need to transfer credits back. And the requirements will be as follows: 
  1. Be a third or fourth year student with a grade point average (GPAX) of no less than 2.75.  
  2. Provide either one of English proficiency tests: TOEFL of 79 ibt, IELTS of 6.5. 
  3. The overseas university must be accredited by the Office of the Civil Service Commision.
  4. Provide the acceptance letter or any evidence that you are working on the application process. 
  5. Provide the letter of approval from the parents with a signature. 
  6. The period of study at overseas universities must be no longer than one academic year (Fall, Spring and Summer) and the maximum number of credits can be transferred to Chulalongkorn University is 35 or 12 courses. 
  7. Students need to earn a grade of "C" or any equivalent in order to get credits transferred and no calculation for grade point average. 
  8. To be able to get credits transferred, courses registered at overseas universities must be approved. Students should contact BBA Office in advance for course mapping process.
Study Abroad (Summer Program) 
Study Abroad Program for summer is also availableThere are 2 types of Summer Program: 
  1. Summer Free Mover: You have to pay tuition fee to both overseas and Chulalongkorn University.
  2. Summer Exchange:  You have to pay tuition fee to Chulalongkorn University only (You need to check the updated information again because there are not all university offered as Summer Exchange)
And the requirements will be as follows:   
  1. Be a second and third year student with a grade point average (GPAX) of no less than 2.75.  
  2. Provide either one of English proficiency tests: TOEFL of 79 ibt, IELTS of 6.5. 
  3. The overseas university must be accredited by the Office of the Civil Service Commision.

Remarks

  4. The final decision depends on the Faculty board of committee.

The students studying in our partner universities around the world can apply to study at Chulalongkorn Business School for a semester or a year by paying tuition fees to your University. As per our Exchange Program agreement, you will be exempt from paying tuition fees to Chulalongkorn University during the exchange period. This will allow you to take classes here and transfer credits back to your school.

  Eligibility:
To be able to join our Exchange Program, you have to be nominated by your home university. Also, different universities have different rules regarding transfer credits. To avoid any potential problems, we recommend that you obtain approval in writing before joining the Exchange Program
 
  Application Process:
Step 1: Online Nomination by ​Partner University
The exchange coordinator of your home university will receive an email regarding the BBA online nomination from the exchange coordinator of Chulalongkorn Business School around 1 month before the nomination period.  Please feel free to contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have updated contact person who are authorized to submit a nomination. 

The nomination period and deadline will be as follows:

 
  April 1 - 30 for incoming Fall Semester.
  September 1 - 30 for incoming Spring Semester

Very important notes:
  1. For partners where an exchange agreement is university wide only (no direct agreement with Chulalongkorn Business School), it is a must that you contact our Central University Office of International Affairs (OIA) for the first step of nomination: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.So, there are 2 nominations for you: the first one for Central OIA and the second one for BBA. Be sure that you contact them by the OIA's deadline and before you submit your nomination through our BBA system as we cannot receive your students directly and your nomination for the BBA might fail. ​​
  2. If you have signed agreements at both levels: university and business school, you are suggested to submit your nomination to our BBA system right away. You do not need to contact our central OIA for nomination to avoid any confusion. ​​
  3. For partners where the number of students (business students only) we have exchanged is significantly imbalanced at the moment, we might be able to receive 1 student. So, please feel free to contact me directly before you submit a nomination to our BBA system.  
 
Step 2:​ ​Online ​Application by Students 
​After nomination has been submitted, students will automatically receive instruction for application by email. They are required to fill in an online form.
​The following supporting documents ​are required to upload during:

The Chulalongkorn BBA Students Exchange Program provides outstanding foreign as well as Thai students an opportunity to establish meaningful relationships. All BBA students are encouraged to participate in the Students Exchange Program in foreign countries and at universities that best meet their long-term professional interests. Many students also learn foreign languages. The program offers student exchanges at leading international universities for a semester.

  Get Started

Admission to the Exchange Program is highly selective.  Hundreds of spaces are available each year. You should plan ahead for your exchange journey before applying in the following orders:
 
1. Review Partner Universities and Exchange Semester Reports
Before making a decision, reading about each business school, visiting their websites and reading senior exchange reports will help you on planning your exchange. 
 
2. Research Courses and Recheck Course Equivalencies 
Not every course is offered every semester in partner universities so you should follow the links on their course catalog page to list your preferred courses. You can also review courses from senior reports. Be sure to pay attention to semesters and course levels. More course equivalencies should be sent on BBA system.  
 
3. Study Rules and Regulations
You should prepare yourself by studying the following important Rules and Regulations:
More explanation will be provided in the Consulting Session.
 
4. Discuss with your parents 
You must be given a permission from your parents to participate in the desired partner university. Parents will financially sponsor you throughout the Exchange Program. 
 
5. Find Scholarship

6. Check Eligibility Requirements and Exchange Quota
BBA will announce the eligibility requirements and quota once in an academic year.  Quota will be set for both semesters, Fall and Spring.  You should recheck your GPAX and English result whether they meet the requirements or not.
 
7. Take English Test and Send Online English result to BBA 
Either TOEFL or IELTS must be submitted.
TOEFL :  score of 79/550 is required. (79+/550+ is recommended) or
IELTS (for UK) :   score of 6.5 is required. (6.5+ is recommended)
 
The online English Result should be submitted to BBA at least 2 weeks before the Online Score Submission starts using the following code:
 TOEFL  : 4559 BBA Chulalongkorn
  IELTS    : 138499 BBA Chulalongkorn  
The English test must be taken within the past two years to be considered valid.
 
8. Consult BBA Office (refer to Application Calendar)
You are required to consult the home university coordinator (P'Oil) to obtain further  information about university, course equivalency and study plan. 
 
  Eligibility Requirements
1. Year – Applicants must be a third or fourth year student.  Fourth year student can participate in Partner University for Fall semester only.
2. GPAX - Applicants must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0.
3. English Result – Applicants must achieve a minimum score as follows:
3.1 TOEFL score of 79/550 is required. (79+/550+ is recommended) or
3.2 IELTS (for UK) score of 6.5 is required. (6.5+ is recommended)
4. Records – Applicants will be automatically rejected if they have the following records.
4.1 Record of Behavioral penalties and/or academic suspension
4.2 Record of Absence from all required activities offered by BBA Program
     “In particular, the students who get deducted 30 or more penalty points will be sanctioned by preventing them from participating in the BBA exchange program”
5. Concurrent Application – Applicants have no concurrent applications to other exchange programs. If the BBA office finds out at any point of the process, your application will be dropped and your exchange privilege will be moved to the next semester.

  Application Process 
Follow these instructions strictly Incomplete applications will be automatically rejected. There are 3 steps as follows:
Step 1  : Online Score (GPAX and English Score) Submission
1.1 Log on to the Outgoing Exchange Online Application at http://student-bba.cbs.chula.ac.th/Account/Login.aspx
  Username: Student ID Number without 26 (Ex. 55438432)
  Password : the numbers and letters logging in the CU NET
The online score will be opened 2 days (refer to Exchange Application Process) from 9.00 am. of the first day to 12.00 noon of the second day.
1.2 Complete the profile form.
1.3 Submit the GPAX and English result through the system.  
The full scale of GPAX and full mark of English Tests will be as follows:
  GPAX = 4.00 
  TOEFL = 120 
  IELTS = 9 
 
Step 2  : Online Application
2.1  Log on to the Outgoing Exchange Online Application at http://student-bba.cbs.chula.ac.th/Account/Login.aspx
  Username: Student ID Number without 26 (Ex. 55438432)
  Password: the numbers and letters logging in the CU NET
  The online application will be opened 2 days (refer to Exchange Application Process) from 9.00 am. of the first day to 17.00 pm. of the second day.
2.2  Your score - GPAX & English Result - (How to calculate the GPAX and English result) will be used to determine priority in university selection.
       Please note that after you GPAX and English result have been considered, one of followings words will be appeared:
            Verified – It means that your GPAX and English result are matched with the hard copies. You are eligible to choose 3 partner universities and rank them by personal preference.
  Not Verified – It means that your GPAX and English result are not matched with the hard copies or you don’t meet our requirements.  You are ineligible to choose Partner University.
2.3 One out of your three chosen universities will be selected and you will find a notice, "You have registered in ___". You are now eligible for an exchange semester at their partner university. If you do not registered in any, your may choose other universities. However, your selected university may be changed within 2 days if someone more eligible choose it.
2.4 The result will be announced a day later at 17.00 pm.  Students who fail to report  and confirm participation after the final selection is made will forgo their exchange privileges of the semester.
 
Step 3  : Requisition Form and Required Documents Submission 
          Please submit one set of the following documents on BBA system in Document Submission Menu: 
3.1  completed requ An academic transcript  isition form (generated by the system)
3.2  Aonline version transcript
3.3  copy of TOEFL or IELTS score (taken within two years of the application date)
3.4  A current resume – Download Resume Template
3.5  A statement of purpose essay (Maximum one page describing your background, interest in the university you chose, and your expectation of participation benefits)
3.6  A copy of passport with “Certified True Copy” and your signature
3.7  A copy of student ID card with “Certified True Copy” and your signature

  After Selection Announcement: Nomination 
Selected students will be nominated by email or online nomination to the Partner University with some basic information (name-last name, major, date of birth, email, etc.).
 
  After Nomination: Partner University’s Application Process and Acceptance Letter 
  Once you have been nominated to a partner university, you will receive the application process email from the partner university and are required to complete that university’s application as an exchange student. 
  Each university has a different application process.  You will be suggested to apply for one of following the partner university's process strictly.
  BBA will be responsible for posting the application and supporting documents to partner universities except for the housing application and visa documents. You must submit the document to BBA 3 weeks before the deadline.  
 
Important  : Student should follow application instructions carefully and submit the application and required documents to the partner university ON TIME.  If you have concerns or need help, please let the BBA Office know.
 
  Acceptance letter 
Partner University will send the letter (hard copy and/or soft file) to BBA around the following period:
- Fall semester – mid May to late June
- Spring semester – late October to the late of November
An email will be sent to the student to pick it up at BBA Office and this letter will be required for visa application.

The Student should check if you have done the following things before departure:

     Note : Outgoing student is not required to register for courses at Chula.

1. Request the transcript online or ask the partner university coordinator to send a transcript directly to the BBA Office.
2. Register online for BBA courses.
3. Write the exchange report.

Otherwise, BBA international program will transfer all courses listed on the student’s transcript issued by the partner university.
