Aside from the useful things that were taught in COMP INTL BUS MGT class, this class gave us an opportunity to explore international aspects of management. We were able to visit ample of factories ranging from locals to globally renowned ones.

The main differences for each factory while we visited were really obvious that each of the machineries for smaller scale factories are less complicated and the speed that each goods are being processed are not as fast as those bigger scale like Coca Cola and Kirin. Soy sauce factory uses staff to explain the process and all is in Japanese, but for those commercial ones it is all computerized and the staff’s job was just to tour us around.

Important aspects of Japanese products are quality and it is kept through every factory that we visited. Moreover, how all the staffs are very appreciative of what they do and how they are passionate about what they do makes it very impressive of how Japanese set the tone of where they work and how they work. Cleanliness is of the Japanese concern and how each of their employees kept this in everything they do. It is the Japanese beauty how they are very careful about all the little things.

The trip gave us an understanding of how Japanese way of life is too, not only from the factory point of view, but just walking around the streets in small cities; made us realize how little thing matters. Fun, loving, and most memorable moments for us as seniors about to be graduating! Thank you Ajarn Somchanok and all the BBA Staffs for this wonderful trip!

The COMP INTL BUS MGT class does not only provide us an opportunity to learn how management practices vary among different countries and culture but we were also fortunate enough to witness how Japanese companies operate their businesses, a management practice that is considered to be one of the most successful practices in the world.

On the late night of 29 March 2014, we flew from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Fukuoka International Airport, Japan. The study trip for Finance and International Business Management students this year was held at a beautiful and peaceful town in the southern part of Japan, Fukuoka. Throughout the trip, we are lucky enough to arrive at the peak of cherry blossom season. It was amazingly beautiful.

Besides from all the fun we have from getting into Onsen with friends and enjoying all the meals and sceneries, we were given a rare opportunity to visit many famous Japanese companies to learn about their companies and management styles. We visited the Fukuoka Perfecture and watched the presentation on SMEs & Software business. In addition, a company’s visit at JR Kyushu to learn about the company and its famous JR Kyushu’s new luxury train seven stars was really a great experience for all of us. Of course, a visit to Asahi Beer Plant was something that we all were really looking forward to. A visit to Toyota at the Miyata Plant was truly an eye-opening experience for us to see how Toyota manufactured each car and to see how diligent and orderly Japanese people are. Last but not least, we had a chance to visit Fukutaro mentaiko Factory, one of the famous foods in Fukuoka.

This trip provides a chance for students to visit important business enterprises in order to broaden their international business outlook and experience a wide variety of cross-cultural discoveries and relationships. It was one of the most memorable experiences for us as seniors about to be graduating. Thank you Ajarn Somchanok and all the BBA Staffs for this amazing trip.

As the first year of being a freshman is coming to an end, the next chapter of being a BBA#18 student is about to begin. On Wednesday April 23rd and Thursday April 24th, students were given the chance to join a talk session held by the BBA Office about major selections as well as the opportunity and careers that each major offers.

On Wednesday, the session started with a quick test that helps determine whether our character fits well with the International Business major. We were given 20 yes or no questions and the score tells us whether we are suitable for either the IB major or Accounting or Financial Analysis and Investment. Ajarn Chavapas Ongmahutmongkola, a professor from the “Entrepreneurship” class and a Founding Partner of PrimeStreet Advisory (Thailand) Company Limited, talked about the various advantages that the IB Major has compared to other two majors. He showed us that the IB major is about being a manager, a creative innovator and a great entrepreneur who brings resources together and add value to it. The guest speaker’s talk was very inspirational as he used many examples of successful people who chose the IB major during their college years. He also talked about how IB major is broad and that it gives students many types of skill that they will need in the future.

On Thursday, we had two guest speakers which specializes in two different areas. Ajarn Boonlert Kamolchanokkul, a Partner at PwC Thailand, an ACCA member and a representative member of the ACCA International Assembly, talked about how the Accounting Major is very useful and that the demand for accountant always increases. He noted that great accountants determine a business’s success and the career path for accounting graduates is endless. In addition, Ajarn Pisit Jeungpraditphan, an Audit Committee – Director at Mudman Company Limited and a Non-Executive Director at Gereje Corporate Finance, talked about the Finance major and the courses students will take throughout the remaining three years. There is a wide range of careers that one can pursue as a Finance graduate such as a financial analyst and a stockbroker.

Both sessions were very helpful and they will definitely guide us in choosing what will become the next chapter of our lives.
